Poker Phishing: Your Email Enemy

Yes, I know, if you are technologically savvy at all you know what phishing is. You’ve probably even encountered one or two phishing emails in your day. The problem now a days is that more and more phishing scams are related to online gambling and poker accounts. Phishers are getting sophisticated, and an email from a casino can look very convincing to the untrained eye.

Phishing 101 is to never open a link directly from an email unless you are absolutely sure that the email is from a legitimate source. Adding your favorite casinos to your safe contact lists should help with that problem. If you get an email that you are not quite sure about, sign into your player account and see if there are any issues. Do not trust any email unless you can verify that it is from a real casino.

Never, and I repeat never, send any financial details over email. Casino phishing scams often claim that they need you financial information to properly process a withdrawal payout. Sign into your poker account, and confirm your details there if there is really an issue. Legitimate casinos will never ask your financial details over email.

You should also choose an online casino or poker room that does not sell your personal information to third parties. Casinos that do that are not entirely legitimate, so be careful
