White Sky Lanterns Rule

Why does everyone always want to opt for the coloured Sky Lanterns? White ones are actually a lot nicer. They’re more tasteful and versatile and lend a sort of ghostly feel to a mass lantern launch rather than lending a brashly festive tone to an event. I suppose it is not dis-similar to the difference between coloured and white Christmas tree lights. Coloured ones belong in those households that also like the idea of giant neon santas- ideally singing ones- hanging over their thresholds. The colour lighted Christmas tree sends a slightly tacky and over-the-top message if that’s fair to say. The white light is a whole different ball game. Think of those giant, luxurious looking trees that you find I Harrods or House of Fraser in the lead up to Christmas (obviousy). They speak of grandeur, and syle, yet are also- in the best cases- simplicity itself. They confound the eyes, nor give you a headache if you stare at them for too long. No, they are quite simply, beautiful. So next time you’re having a party, or feel like sending off a lantern into the heavens, go for the white variety, the colour of virginal purity. You’ll regret it if you don’t.
