Job Hunting via Google

We’re all fed up of hearing about the liquidity crisis, particularly if you’re one of the newly unemployed. You can turn off the TV, but you can’t escape the fact of life that the world is in a recession and it will be with us for some time.

What can we do?What can be done? The orthodox ways of hunting for a job are not so good when you have 90 other people trying for the same job. Reading the paper, going to the local unemployment office, etc – you’re just part of the large herd searching for a job in this conventional way.

It’s much better to be active in places your competition (the unemployed) are less likely to be active in. Nowadays a lot of firms display job vacancies on their website, so go to your search engine and enter keywords to target local firms. Use a variety of key words between locale only e.g. jobs Staffordshire UK, and location and profession e.g. cleaner jobs Tamworth Staffordshire.

One more idea is to work for yourself – to be self-employed. One thing we’ve learnt over the last year is that large companies can go bust very quickly. Being self-employed puts destiny in your own hands, something no staff worker of a company can ever say they have. An important point is that you choose the kind of job you enjoy since you must motivate yourself everyday.
