Fascination for Cascading Water

The hilly landscape of Grenada is dotted with waterfalls. Hiking to the crystal clear waterfalls through the rainforests is part of the fun of traveling in Grenada. Paths that lead to these freshwater treasures are clearly marked and guided tours are also available. In fact, guides are recommended when the falls are located in private property, as in the case of the Seven Sisters Falls.

Among the various waterfalls that one may see in Grenada, here are a few picturesque falls:

Tufton Hall Waterfall is Grenada’s highest, where a three-hour guided hike through its mountainous terrain can be a refreshing adventure. Victoria Falls, in the same parish, St. Marks, is at the foot of Grenada’s Mount St. Catherine and reaching these falls requires a long hike too.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a waterfall that is easy to get to, Annandale Falls, near St. George, is the best place to go to. Climbing the hill, visitors pass several small brooks and even a small waterfall before they reach Annandale Falls. Visitors can swim in the water that collects in a dark pool over the rocks.

Hikes to the Paraclete Falls and the Honeymoon Falls can take an hour, but the views are well worth the hike. Standing under Paraclete Falls, you can get your head massaged by the falling water.

Concord Falls has three different waterfalls, the first of which can be reached easily with a car. The other two, Au coin and Fontainbleu may require a two-hour hike up the mountain. Swimming is possible in the pools below Concord falls and in Au Coin.

The Royal Mt Carmel Falls also called the Marquis Falls, drops 70 feet into a pool below. Reaching these two falls, close to Grenville requires a half-an-hour hike.

Wherever you stay in Grenada, there is a fascinating waterfall nearby. .
