Sheffield’s Wharf House Office Complex to Be Sold

The Sheffield Canal Basin was originally a port of call for the Sheffield Canal since the 1800’s. However, by 1970, the place had ceased to be an active port and had fallen into disuse owing to neglect. The turnaround came in 1992 when a major redevelopment was undertaken in the area, which brought life back to the dockside. The area is now known as Victoria Quays.

The original Terminal Wharf House was part of this redevelopment to provide new office spaces, leisure facilities and docking facilities for pleasure craft, stationary house boats and canal boats. In renovating the Wharf House, its original Georgian architecture including sash windows and vaulted ceilings was retained, but refurbished to accommodate 3,500 square feet of top-quality office space in the premises.

Real estate consultants Knight Frank are the listing agents for the property, which is currently on sale. Description of the property provided by the agent states that the property is five minutes from the city centre and within easy access of the Supertram and the motorway. It is described as a scenic waterside development with open plan shared offices offering a country feel.

The Sheffield City Centre Master Plan involves developing the area as a leisure destination on the waterside with covered walkways connecting Fargate and the Quays. A number of other establishments in the Quays area include a Hilton hotel and a Livingwell Gym along with restaurants and clinics situated in the vicinity. The building itself is a combination of open areas and single offices, along with a kitchen. Tenants have access to separate cobbled parking for the building.
