World-renowned Game Developer Confirms Lack of Dedicated Servers for Rage Game

Shooter and racing video game “Rage” won’t be offering support for dedicated linux servers. This was confirmed by no less than John Carmack, a world-renowned game developer who’s also the engine programmer and technical developer of the aforementioned game.

Carmack, co-founder of id Software, said that this upcoming PC game won’t be getting dedicated server support, much to the disappointment of PC gaming fanatics.

It has been announced last month that another PC game named Modern Warfare 2 won’t also have dedicated servers. Several online forums have been flooded with complaints and online petitions. One particular online petition has so far gathered more than 185,000 signatures.

For most hardcore gamers, it seemed that game developers are resorting to “minimizing” the availability of buttons for players in a bid to reach out to more clientele, especially those PC gaming novices who find it hard to learn the game when confronted with a lot of gaming buttons.

Despite this announcement, Carmack was reportedly quoted as saying that it’s not yet the right time to “cast in stone” yet the announcement as there will be changes prior to the release of the game.

However, he did stress that at this point, the move is still unlikely. He’s aware that this decision won’t suit well to most gamers but added that “we’ll see how it works out for everyone else.”
