Thompsons filed a case of unfair dismissal on behalf of Bodman. Investigations also revealed that there were cases of employees using foul language earlier too. Yuasa had just issued a written warning of disciplinary action kept on record for six months. That was the maximum penalty. It was obvious that the company had decided to be harsh with Bodman though the culture of the company was clearly to take foul language in stride.

Thompsons argued at the Tribunal that Keith Bodman was treated differently than the other employees. While the case was still proceeding, Yuasa decided to settle the claim out of court.

At least three companies have pleaded guilty to safety breach charges in the Buncefield blast of December 2005.
